Poemes Visuals (Visual Poems)

poemes_cartells_grans_eng

Visual Poems is a charming show, filling every corner of the stage with an unusual virtuosity, the result of many years of work. On stage a series of simple letters come to life but thanks to great mastery and handling these convert gestures into verse and verse into emotion.

The show is inspired in the magic of the poems of Catalan poet Joan Brossa, borrowing from the magnetism of Brossa’s alphabet, a game of letters with which the poet illustrates his visual poetics.

Visual Poems starts with musician-actor playing the role of a poet; he is carrying a suitcase full of letters made of foam and he starts to play their sounds and shapes, discovering that the letters can be used to create poetry without the need to construct words.

With his guitar and songs, he establishes a warm relationship with the letters that come alive, creating a universe full of characters, choreographies, humor, and drama to show that letters are not just for filling up papers and computers but rather that they can also create a sensitive world of breathtaking simplicity.

The letters, operated by sticks on a table, come alive and transform as the show moves forward: the E becomes a dog that plays with a child, which is the I. A Y and a “U” create a rhythmic dance and a simple “T”, a trampolinist.

The scene is played out directly before the audience, bathed with delicate lighting effects; the action is accompanied by vocals and guitar.

The handling is performed in sight of the spectator: the relationship between the puppeteer and the object brings about a studied, precise and technically perfect choreography.

The show is constructed via sketches, a virtuoso performance the results of hours and hours of practice, years of experience: each movement, each pause, have been studied to perfection to make the characters, the letters made from foam, reach a level of warmth and poetics that is difficult to find on any of stage.

This is a visual show in which live music, movement, minor disputes and poetic gestures are the strings that make for this international quality show.

Power Point

1ª NO CLINC CLINC.

Antologia (Anthology)

cartellsl_web_2020-eng

Jordi Bertran, known internationally as one of the master marionette puppeteers, presents a show in seven musical and theatre scenes where movement, suggestive details and natural gestures produce a hypnotic magnetism that will captivate the viewer.

Anthology, Jordi Bertran’s debut work, was released in 1987 and continues to form part of his repertoire to the present, visiting stages across the five continents for over twenty years.

Structured along the lines of a cabaret, Anthology’s scenes unfold in an elaborate sequence, combining the rhythm of the show with the emotional development of each one of the characters recreated by the puppeteer, who –through the puppet strings- brings to life well-known and imaginary characters, anonymous characters inspired by the circus, theatre or cultural world.

Of all the range of puppets, marionettes require most technical skills because they are articulated and operated by the handler by tightening and loosening the string controls in order to direct the movement of the figure.

In Anthology, the scene is played out directly before the audience, bathed with delicate lighting.

Operated Jordi Bertran himself, in full view of the spectators, the relationship between the creator and object is transformed into a studied, precise and technically perfect choreography. This virtuoso performance is the result of many years of work, with every articulation, gesture or counterweight studied to perfection to ensure that the characters who parade in front of the viewer –Louis Armstrong, Dalí, Pau Casals, Pep Bou, the clown Toti Tipon…-are so alive that they conjure up the fragile world of soap bubbles, Dali’s surrealism or a hymn to peace by the master Casals.

Circus (English)

CIRCUS is an experimental work with two techniques of artistic expression: The Clown and the Puppet. It is a sample of what Jordi Bertran has learned from masters such as: Chaplin, Lloid, Keaton, Marx Brothers, Rivel, Tatí,…. And Ferran Bertran (his father), who at the tables of family lunches, and with the with the help of a napkin or his hands he let out the art he carried inside.

A fun and poetic show for all audiences where the renowned puppeteer through small details, gestures and complicity, establishes a sincere connection with his audience.

Synopsis

CHARLOT’S DREAM

Charlot, one of the most famous characters of the first half of the 20th century, arised from the world of Cinema, will do an exhibition with his four-wheel rollers. This is an inspired scene from one of his films, “Modern Times”.

Rachel, the flower-seller, will be the Charlot’s scene parner, she is the muse that lives constantly on his dreams. This puppet is inspired by the character that sells violets in the film “City Lights”, by Charles Chaplin.

FRATEL·LO AND TITINA

Two funambulist clowns, will risk their lives to the rythm of Charles Chaplin music, upon the tightrope showing all what they feel one to each other.

A yellow flower will be symbol that represents their love.

TOTI

With this character, Jordi Bertran will get out the child spirit that lives in him, recovering his asleep clown.
With very simple objects like a paper cone or a napket, Toti achieves to comunicate with the public under a funny, tender and poetic relationship.

This show is dessigned to be represented with direct contact with the public, whether if it is oudoors, indoors or without a stage. The proximity and the comunication with the characters is such developped that they could even be touched.
Every movement, every glance, every step from this puppets are considered with a deep presition. The aim to seduce the public, and getting them to think that the life that there is inside them is real and their flosses are mere fiction.
From puppets with a perfect contruction linked to long years of work in the manipulation an interpretation with the floss technique, big doses of poetry can be obtained, with the capability to create highly emoted sentiments to the public.
This is an experimental work which carries us to think about forgotten landscapes, where our oniric memories from our origins inhabit.
